Abele's Campaign Improperly Solicited Donations

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele's Campaign violated a county ban that prohibits soliciting donations from county employees.

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele improperly solicited donations from county employees during his victorious campaign against Greendale State Rep. Jeff Stone by seeking staffers' attendance at a $50-per-person fundraiser held at Abele's home, reported the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Wednesday.

Abele said he was not aware of the ban and would make sure that it doesn't happen again.

A campaign aid took responsibility for the mistake and said that a telephone solicitation for a barbecue fundraiser at Abele's mansion had likely been made to about 30 to 40 county employees and to a list of Abele supporters, according to the Journal Sentinel.
