Woman Fights Off Man in Robbery Attempt

A 21-year-old Milwaukee man has been charged after police say he assaulted and attempted to rob a woman as she walked home from work.

A 21-year-old Milwaukee man has been charged after police say he assaulted and attempted to rob a woman as she walked home from work. 

Sidney Jackson Jr. was charged June 4 in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with one count of felony robbery with use of force. If convicted, he could face up to seven years and six months imprisonment, $25,000 in fines, or both.

On June 2, the victim told police she was walking home from work near West Ramsey Avenue and South 43rd Street in Greendale when a man walking behind  her grabbed her ponytail and pulled her backward. 

The victim elbowed the man, spun around and began punching him in the chest, she told police. The man tried to pull her into a wooden area, but the victim grabbed a tree and refused to let go. The man eventually ran away, with another man he had been walking with.

Greendale police say they spoke with Jackson who admitted to pulling on the victim's ponytail, in an attempt to slam her to the ground and rob her. 

Jackson’s preliminary court hearing is scheduled for June 18.
