Woman Faces Felony After Trying to Steal Jewelry From Kohl's

Suspect tried to hide jewelry in her purse so she could steal it and pawn the items for money.

A 31-year-old Milwaukee woman is facing felony shoplifting charges after she was allegedly caught trying to steal more than $1,000 in jewelry from inside .

Rene N. Satoni was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of retail theft of more than $500. If convicted, she faces up to 3 ½ years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

On May 10, security officers at Kohl’s spotted Satoni taking 28 jewelry items vauled at $1,070 and placing them in a shopping cart, then went into a changing area and emerge later with only 12 items. Satoni then put the 12 items back in their original area and left the store with the other items hidden in her purse.

She was stopped shortly afterwards by security officers and admitted to the theft. She said she’s unemployed and planned to pawn the items for money.

She will make her initial appearance in court June 22.
