Woman Dropped, Dragged Children Outside Southridge, Police Say

A woman was arrested for disorderly conduct and child abuse for dropping and dragging her children outside of Sears at Southridge Mall on May 31.

Witnesses saw the woman, according to the Greendale Police Department, yell at her children and force them down to the ground at 9 p.m. She continued to shout profanities at her children and dragged her son approximately 1,800 feet before being stopped by police.

Police ordered the woman to report to the District Attorney’s office and contacted the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare.

That and the following incidents were recorded in the Greendale police media summary log for the week of May 31-June 6:

  • A woman told police her sister had overdosed on medications and was in her vehicle at Scout Lake Park, 6001 W. Loomis Rd., at 8:45 p.m. June 6.
  • A young boy told his father he saw his neighbor on Radburn Lane point a gun out of the door at 3:10 p.m. June 6. The man admitted to police he shot at a chipmunk with a pellet gun, which was confiscated by police. The case was referred to the Village Attorney for review.
  • A student reportedly came to Greendale High School with a fruity pre-mixed alcoholic beverage and was cited for underage possession and consumption of an intoxicant at 8:10 a.m. June 5.
  • The manager of an undisclosed Southridge Mall store told police June 4 a night deposit bag containing $1,065 that was supposed to be deposited May 26 had gone missing.
  • At 11 p.m. June 2, a woman told police that her brother, who lives on Churchwood Circle, had made suicidal statements and she believed he owns a gun. The man was intoxicated when police made contact with him, but he denied talking about suicide.
  • Police responded to seven retail theft incidents at Southridge Mall: two at Kohl’s, two at Boston Store, and one each at Sears, H&M and an undisclosed store. One of the arrests at Kohl’s also involved an arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia, and one of the arrests at Boston Store included citations for resisting and obstructing.
