Woman Could Face 3 Years For Stealing Luggage
Racine woman who allegedly stole from Southridge Mall is one of the first charged with a felony under the state's new law.
A 30-year-old Racine woman is facing felony charges after she tried to steal luggage from a store at .
Javais Joan Prestay was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of felony retail theft. If convicted, she faces up to 3 ½ years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

Prestay was at where an employee spotted her altering the price tags on luggage and bedding, then walk out the door without paying for them. She was confronted in the parking lot by police where she admitted to the theft.
The items were valued at $580, however, Prestay now faces a felony charges due to the state Legislature’s change of the threshold for felony theft to $500.
