Two Fires at the Same Time, Both Near Greenway

At least one of the fires was confirmed as arson.

The two fires that ignited on Saturday morning were only a couple of blocks away from each other and only 27 minutes apart.

No one was hurt, according to Greendale Police Sgt. Jeffrey Zainer. The fire is under investigation. When asked if arson was involved Zainer said that's a possibility and that the fire does look suspicious.

Fire crews were at the scene till about 6:30 a.m., said Greendale Fire Capt. Dean Kozelek.

The second fire was called in at 3:55 a.m. at Greenway Apartments on 6500 block of Greenway.

Someone broke into a man's residence through the bathroom window and started a fire on the bed while the resident slept in the living room, according to police reports. Several coins were stolen and the mattress was completely destroyed due by the fire that was started by a book of matches.
