Police Blotter: Suspects Sped Away with Stolen Salt from Village Barrels

Recent police reports from the Greendale Police Department.

Two men in a white van were reported stealing salt from a Village of Greendale salt barrel at South 51st Street and North Eastway, according to police reports.

The suspects were caught after a witness saw them speed off after taking the salt, the police report said. The witness noted a description of the vehicle and turned it over to police. The department used the information to track the truck to its owner, who said an employee was driving the van and admitted to taking the salt, report said.

One of the suspects returned the salt to the police department and was issued a citation for theft, the report said.
