Problems Compound for Drunk Driver, Greendale Police Say

When police arrived at the scene of an accident, the man fled with smoke pouring from both rear wheel wells of his car.

A man involved in a crash at the intersection of Grange Avenue and South 68th Street made things much worse for himself in the early morning hours of June 8.

According to the Greendale Police Department, two cars were stopped after appearing to crash into each other at 1:30 a.m. When police arrived, the man in the front car fled with smoke pouring from both rear wheel wells of his car.

He was stopped again in the 7000 block of West Grange Avenue and transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, where with the help of Milwaukee Police Department’s District 6 officers, he underwent a blood draw after telling police he would be combative if they attempted one.

During the return trip to the Greendale Police Station, the man became violent, striking his face on multiple glass and other hard surfaces in the squad car.

He was arrested for operating while intoxicated, driving without insurance, resisting police-physical, impeding traffic and refusing of chemical test.
