Police Chief Application Closing Soon

The police and fire commission will be closing the applications on March 21.

The police and fire commission met on Friday and decided to close the police chief application on March 21. Commission president David Wilmoth said he hopes to appoint a new chief by the end of April.

After 37 years of service Robert Dams retired as Greendale police chief and then Capt. Robert Malasuk was appointed interim police chief.

The commission is  conducting a nationwide search for a permanent police chief. Malasuk has shown interest in the position.

Finalists will go through two rounds of interviews and need to be approved by the Village.

"We want to move expeditiously in selecting a new chief, but it is a very important decision and we need to take the time to get it right," Wilmoth said.
