Man Arrested for 22nd Retail Theft Violation

This time, he was caught using a theft-detection shielding device as he tried to leave Kohl's at Southridge Mall with items he did not pay for.

Sometimes, all it takes is getting caught once to scare a person straight.

Sometimes, not so much.

A man was arrested for his 22nd retail theft offense when he tried to steal items from Kohls at Southridge Mall at 4:15 p.m. June 11.

The man was also cited for possession of a theft-detection shielding device and had two commitments with the Greendale Police Department.

That and the following incidents were recorded in the Greendale Police Department’s media summary for the week of June 7-13:

  • Police found a 3-year-old boy wandering around the parking lot of Greendale Middle School, 6800 Schoolway, without his parents around 7:30 p.m. June 13. The child was taken back to the police department where he was reunited with his parents. Police contacted the Bureau of Child Welfare.
  • A girl told police her teal blue and brown Specialized brand bicycle was stolen from a bicycle rack outside of Sears at Southridge Mall around 2 p.m. June 13. 
  • A woman who lives on Hill Valley Court called police on her 25-year-old son she said was “talking crazy” just before 9 p.m. June 13. The man was arrested for disorderly conduct-domestic violence and ordered into the District Attorney’s office.
  • An employee of a center court lower kiosk at Southridge Mall told police someone stole 10 iPhones and four S4 Galaxy phones, money from the drawer and safe and the key for the safe sometime between 9:40 p.m. June 11 and 10 a.m. June 12.
  • Police mailed a citation for disorderly conduct to a female who lives on Rainbow Drive after she screamed obscenities at the landlord around 6:30 p.m. June 11.
  • A man driving a motorcycle at the intersection of South 51st Street and Russell Drive was arrested for operating while intoxicated just before midnight June 8. He had a prohibitive alcohol concentration of .18.
  • A handicap parking placard was taken from a vehicle parked at Walmart sometime between 4 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. June 8.
  • An employee of JCPenny’s at Southridge reported her black iPhone 3, valued at approximately $400-500 was stolen while she worked June 6.
