Greendale Man Charged For Using Another Man's Credit Card

Suspect wrote down the victim's credit card after letting him use it once.

A 28-year-old Greendale man is facing charges after he allegedly used another man’s credit card to purchase items at gas stations so he could provide for him and his pregnant girlfriend.

Travis L. Ehrlich was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of unauthorized use of personal identification. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

A man contacted Greendale police after he noticed 14 transactions for a total of $3,049 were placed on his Menard’s charge account between Aug. 17 and Sept. 7 without his authorization. The man said he never bought the items, but said he always keeps the card in his wallet and no one else has access to it.

Police then went to the Greendale Speedway where many of the transaction took place and an employee told investigators Ehrlich often came to the store to purchase gasoline and gift cards.

Police then interviewed Ehrlich who admitted to using the account to purchase items at various gas stations because his girlfriend is pregnant and he needs to provide for her and their unborn child.

He said the victim let him use the card once and he wrote down all the information at the time so he could keep charging to the account.

He will make his initial appearance in court March 27.
