According to the criminal complaint:

When officers arrived, Bartell was standing in the hallway of the building and holding a serrated knife and meat clever. Officers eventually talked him out of the hallway, but he continued to hold the knives.

They continued to tell Bartell to drop the knives, so he took two steps towards the officers, then stabbed the knives into the ground at his feet. The officers tried to handcuff Bartell, but he resisted by grabbing an officer’s hands.

Eventually they were able to get cuffs on him while he was on the ground. Bartell then rolled onto his back and a steak knife fell out of his pocket.

Bartell was assigned a $300 signature bond while awaiting trial.
