Maintaining Village Integrity As It Undergoes Change

Local Postal employee gives his take on what makes our village special

Allow me to introduce myself for those of you who do not know me. My name is Neil Panosian. I work at the Greendale post office. Working with the wonderful people of Greendale everyday allows me to hear lots of the issues that are on the minds of people in the village. One of the issues that is getting a lot of lip service currently is concern over the village maintaining it's integrity in the face of all the changes that are coming. New construction at both the Southridge Mall site, and on Grange Avenue. Also the possible arrival of a Walmart grocery at the former location of the United States Bowling Congress. While I feel this concern is another example of how much care the people have for the neighborhood they live in, may I suggest a fresh approach to this dilemma. What truly makes Greendale special is the close knit attitudes of the people who live there. So I believe the best way to protect the villages integrity is to put forth the best attitude we can, both to our fellow Greendale residents and those who visit our fine village. Let us all work together to make Greendale the friendliest place to be. Even if you are buying groceries at Walmart.
