We the people, at the time of this country’s founding, were seen as partners in the governing of this country. As such, the founding fathers saw in their wisdom the need to protect the people from man’s desire to govern with absolute power. When the highest court in our land, decides to force itself into a discussion it had no constitutional right to be involved, then it has assumed additional power over the people’s freedoms not granted by the law of the land. The constitutionality of DOMA is irrelevant if the we must destroy the judicial process to reach a decision. While the liberals and gays celebrate their emotional victory, those of us concerned not with love, but with reason, lament the doors opened by such a ruling.
