Has Progressive Action Destroyed The Republic?

This week the Speaker of the house, John Boehner, announced that in 2014 the GOP will not push forward with immigration legislation.  In his statement, he made very clear that a determining factor in not addressing immigration was the inability to trust the executive branch of the US government.  Specifically, that the executive branch would not uphold the law as passed by those elected to congress.

I give Boehner little credit in his ability to lead the GOP.  I was unimpressed with his choice as leader from the moment he tearfully accepted the job as if he won Miss America.  Nor do I think his leadership to counter what has become the most socialist president in history, anything to write home about.  That being said, the proof of Boehner’s statement exists within the Presidents own health care law, in which he has added ever greater portions that are to be ignored by his agencies and the country.  Add that to the current immigration law which the executive branch has instructed his agencies to disregard, what gives Boehner confidence the future will be different.

This should not be a concern for only Boehner’s need to pass legislation.  The citizens of this nation should be worried that the framework by which this country was built is no longer applicable to its leaders.  How do we move forward as a Republic knowing that the President, by way of executive action, can and will nullify the congress?  What laws are not touchable?  What power is not attainable?

‘This won’t happen in America’, some will charge.  However, if I would have told you 20yrs ago that in 2014 both Germany and China would be adopting free market practices that the current US administration was trying to abandon, you would have give the same answer.  Every extension of power, addition to the bloat of government and added pieces of restrictive registration started with simple moves like this.

I would like to illustrate this with two quotes; decide for yourself which provides for a better free nation.
