Head On Into Disaster

Who is willing to lead the country as the current group of politicians won't?

“Walk on road?  Walk left side, safe.  Walk right side, safe.  Walk middle, sooner or later get squish just like grape.”

The wise words quoted above were spoken by a Karate Master in the early 80’s.  He used these words to make a point to his student that he needed to pick his path.  He could not wander in the center of the road and pretend he had chosen the correct route.

Our federal government is currently wandering the middle of road.  We move from one manufactured crisis to the next, playing the same tune of imminent destruction for each.  As a result, nothing productive is accomplished; rather, we continue to build debt, put off true calamity with regards to unfunded social programs, twiddle our thumbs on immigration and concentrate our efforts on soda consumption or gay marriage.  So, why hasn’t our government chose to walk on the sides of the road?

The simple answer is they no longer see their jobs as leaders, but rather as campaigners.  In many jurisdictions of our country, you cannot be both of those at the same time.

Currently, the best solution for a both parties is to concern themselves with the next election.  If they put off legislative votes, extend deadlines or invent cliff-like scenarios it is easier to be seen as working for the people.  The supporters of both parties want all of their considerations to be addressed.  Therefore, the politicians place these considerations inside doom day situations so they can claim to be working, scoring great political points for the election season.  In truth most of the scenarios will never reach a plausible solution as the positions proposed on both sides are never intended to meet compromise.  Neither party is innocent in this meandering of the crisis highway.

Completely self neutered, the Republicans have been unable to successfully defend any of the policies that got them into office.  Polls continue to show that the public dislikes Obama’s policy; yet, they wake up every morning unwilling to buckle up the big boy pants because they fear his rhetoric.  Incapable of producing successful arguments, either out of fear or stupidity, they simply look like obstructionists; whiny, old, obstructionists.

Democrats, self aggrandizing and pompous as the day is long, do not hold policies that the majority of American’s find as beneficial to the country.  However, they have President that has proven lacking leadership as president, while speaking as if you are, apparently is enough to convince enough people you have tried.  Refusing to enact completely socialist policy, European style wet dreams, understanding that in doing so would guarantee a Republican landslide in the next election.  They hold as much responsibility of maintaining course down the center double yellow line as the Republicans.

The rest of us, those not lucky enough to be elected, pay the price.  Our economy is stagnant; we must budget for tough times while the government doesn’t even need a budget and we are hand-tied because the next election will bring more of same double speak all elections do.  The required course correction will only occurred after the American people realize the suffering we are told comes from within our own ranks, the rich or big business, has actually been created by the elected.  Unfortunately, the elected control the education system and in doing so can easily produce a voter lacking the ability to logically understand the repercussions of a government unwilling to drive.
