Picture History: 75 Years of Teaching Greendale Kids

As another school year welcomes its students next week, it is a good time to remember that 75 years ago, Greendale students had an entirely different school experience.

As another school year welcomes its students next week, it is a good time to remember that 75 years ago, Greendale students had an entirely different school experience. Greendale students in 1938 learned in a school where blackboards were black, there was no air-conditioning and no back-packs. 

The first day of classes for Greendale children at the Community Building was September 6, 1938. John R. Ambruster was the first principal of the Greendale Schools.
