Interior construction to restore and re-purpose the historic Grounds Building and Hose Tower as a community gathering place complete with public restrooms for the citizens and families of Greendale is underway.
This week, workers used heavy machinery to trench the exterior of the Hose Tower to help alleviate long-term water damage to the building. This water abatement work is in preparation for the new concrete floor that will installed soon. Inside the Hose Tower, workers completed the detailed restoration of the windows to original 1939 design.
In 2013, the Village of Greendale’s historic district including the Hose Tower was designated as a National Historic Landmark.
