Hose Tower Update: Concrete Improvements

Workers poured the new concrete floor inside of the historic Hose Tower on July 3

Interior construction to restore and re-purpose the historic Grounds Building and Hose Tower as a community gathering place complete with public restrooms for the citizens and families of Greendale continues as workers poured the new concrete floor inside of the building on July 3.

This milestone work on the project precedes the construction of public restrooms and rough-in work on the prep-kitchen with interior painting to follow. Construction on the Hose Tower is led by volunteer, Jack Reichl of Reichl Construction.

The Greendale Historical Society is also inviting the public to “Meet Us at the Hose Tower” after the parade on July 4. Visitors will get the opportunity to learn more about the adaptive restoration of Greendale’s historic Hose Tower into a community gathering space and there will be free lemonade while supplies last.

In 2013, the Village of Greendale’s historic district including the Hose Tower was formally designated as a National Historic Landmark.

Substantial completion of the interior of the building is planned for Village Days in August 2013, to coincide with the 75th anniversary of Greendale.
