Ava's Walk for Pedestrian Safety

Ava Marie Zimmerman is the 5-year-old girl who was killed by a car on April 14, 2010, in downtown Greendale.  Her family has organized "Ava's Walk for Pedestrian Safety" to, hopefully, get motorists to be more aware of pedestrian safety.  The walk, which starts and ends at the Village Hall, will go along sidewalks and pathways on Broad Street, Catalpa, Darnell Lane, Westway and back to Northway.  A brief presentation on pedestrian safety will follow the walk.  Peggy Zimmerman, Ava's grandmother, noted that spring is an important time to talk about pedestrian and bicyclist safety, as more and more people are out and about on the sidewalks and crosswalks.  The walk has a Facebook page for more information, as well as a YouTube video ("the AVA Walk, April 17, 2011").
