September 8 Proclaimed St. Vincent De Paul Day in the Village

The proclamation is in the honor of the hard work and services that St. Alphonsus' local conference has done for Greendale and the surrounding community.

The Village of Greendale proclaimed Septmber 8 as St. Vincent De Paul Day in honor of the hard work and services that St. Alphonsus' local conference has done for Greendale and the surrounding community. 

September has been proclaimed St. Vincent De Paul Awareness month by Bishop Donald Hying.  in Greendale started a conference of St. Vincent De Paul Society, whose mission is to help the less fortunate in all areas of need.

St. Alphonsus Parish is holding an information booth at their Parish on Saturday Sept. 8 and Sunday Sept. 9 to attract more volunteers and donations

The parish picks up bread from various local stores and donates them to needy families and organizations, which provides a service valued at $30,000 annually. It also holds back to school drives, and Bundle Sunday collections, which served over 950 people in 2011.

  • makes visits to homes, hospitals and prisons and in 2011 made 57 visits providing hope to 268 people  
  • provides funding to their “twinning” conference in Bucaramanga, Columbia, which assists an impoverished area with much needed and much appreciated funds
  • provided $14,288 to help with rent, utility and bills to give the community a most needed helping hand
  • has logged 535 hours of service and traveled 1,298 miles to provide these services and an additional 7,200 miles to complete the weekly bread runs
