Measles Clinic in Greendale Vaccinated Six Children

The case was an infant who has been isolated at home with signs and symptoms of the infection. The child was too young to be vaccinated. The infant had contact with another confirmed case.

TMJ4 reported that the Greendale child attended the same Milwaukee church as the child first confirmed with the disease this year.

Shepeard made sure to emphasize that Greendale does not have a measles outbreak. Trustee Greg Turay called it a "measles incident."

The Greendale case was the third confirmed case in Milwaukee county. The Milwaukee Health Department also said that it was not an outbreak but will monitoring symptoms.

The health department had a walk-in measles clinic on September 20. About 17 people received measles vaccinations at the clinic, said Shepeard.

"About six kids came in who had never had that measles shot," said Shepeard. "One was as old as 13."

Shepeard said that this is important because people shouldn't be getting measles because of current vaccines that prevent them. Measles can be highly contagious and deadly, said Shepeard.
