Greendale Has Two Big Events in the Week Ahead

A grand opening and the kickoff to the Village's big summer anniversary celebration highlight an exciting week.

The Village has two big events on the docket this week.

LongHorn Steakhouse, 5220 S. 76th St., the latest edition to the Southridge area, is scheduled to open Monday, April 29, following a ceremonial ribbon-cutting event at 11 a.m.

The 6,221-square-foot restaurant will seat more than 240 guests and will create approximately 100 new jobs.

The kickoff to the Village of Greendale’s 75th Anniversary celebration is two days later.

On Wednesday, May 1, the Village will commemorate its official anniversary date – Greendale opened to new residents on May 1, 1938 – and its National Historic Landmark designation, which it received last fall.

The event is slated for 4 p.m. on the front lawn of Village Hall. Local and state officials will be on hand at the event, which will also feature music free food and beverages.

Greendale NOW reported there will be cake, 350 red, white and blue balloons released and more highlights.
