Emerald Ash Borer is in Greendale

The village has confirmed the presence of the bug. Find out how the village's forestry will change in response to the insect.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture has confirmed the presence of an emerald ash bore beetle on a tree within Greendale.

The village will work with state officials to determine the extent of the outbreak.

The village counted about 1,300 ash trees on its boulevards and right of ways in 2010. That year, the village implemented an Emerald Ash Borer Management Plan. They have chemically treated about 500 of those trees each year to protect against devastation by the insect, and Public Works has removed about 100 ash trees each year, replacing them with other, disease-resistant trees.
