Come Out to Support the Celebration of Education

In a few weeks the community will come together to for Greendale Celebration of Education. This will include honoring retirees and outgoing Superintendent William Hughes.

The Education Foundation of Greendale will host the annual Celebration of Education on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 6 p.m. at Tuckaway Country Club, 6901 W. Drexel Ave., Franklin, Wisconsin.

The Celebration of Education provides a special opportunity for Greendale community members, businesses, parents, faculty and students to join together to acknowledge the achievements of Greendale students and alumni.

The fun and informal event will include live music from the Greendale High School Jazz Band, raffle items, auction items, in addition to hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Today’s TMJ4 news anchor Vince Vitrano will serve as emcee for this year’s event.

“Over the years, the support from so many parents, businesses and residents has enabled the Education Foundation of Greendale to provide resources that enabled our schools to provide those ‘extras’ that help our students to be top achievers,”  said Ron Irwin, Education Foundation President.  “Greendale Schools want to increase the level of technology students can use to access information, create new types of school work and projects, as well as be prepared for the next level of technological innovation in the workplace. Proceeds from this year’s Celebration of Education will support educational and technology initiatives in Greendale classrooms.”

As an annual community highlight, the Education Foundation of Greendale will present two “Inspiration Awards” to an esteemed individual and to a business during the Celebration of Education event. The individual award will honor Dee Dixon, acknowledging her longstanding commitment to schools, the Foundation and the community.  A second award, recognizing a business partner, will be given to John and Teri Bill, owners of Manchester Investments in Greendale. Manchester Investments has been one of our longtime community partners, supporting our schools in many meaningful ways through donations, leadership with Friends of Music, and through program ads and sponsorships for plays, marching bands and academic efforts over the years.
