Cat with 26 Toes at Animal Rescue Center Getting National Attention

The Milwaukee Animal Rescue Center is featuring a cat with 26 toes to help a capitol campaign.

The Center, currently located at Southridge Mall in Greendale, a

was told in September that its lease would not be renewed because it did not fit with the mall's business plan. It had been located at the mall since 2006.

The center has had help in reaching its fundraising goals so far by featuring a Daniel the cat. It has asked donors to consider donating $26 in honor of Daniel's 26 toes.

Phase two of the group's capital campaign will focus on raising $70K to cover all moving, renovation, and supply/equipment purchases. The group's goal is to raise the needed money by December 31.

The third and final phase of the campaign will raise money to satisfy the mortgage balance.

Amy Rowell executive director of MARC told the AP, "I've always been a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and this is definitely the case."
