I'm Moving to North Dakota!

Moving to North Dakota!

I’m moving to North Dakota next year.  Yes, you read it right.  North Dakota.  Who retires and moves to North Dakota?  There will be four of us going.  My mom, Gloria, my sister Kathi, my daughter Dakota & myself.   We’re moving to a small town with a population of 403.  My mom & dad grew up there & we visited all the time to see our relatives.  I feel at this point in my life, I will view it as a great adventure.

My life will change drastically.  I will be trading my 2009 Hyundai Sonata for a good used pick up truck.  For some reason, everyone in town has a white pick up.  I haven’t quite figured that one out yet.  This must have to do with the dealership in the next town.  The temps in the winter seem to be maybe 7 – 10 degrees lower out there.  But, in the summer, the sun doesn’t set until after 10pm and it’s gorgeous outside!   It’s about a 15 minute ride to the next town with a grocery store & of course, a Wal-Mart.  It’s about a 50 minute ride to Fargo which has grown so much; just like driving into Milwaukee.  And there’s a casino about 20 minutes away.  The property taxes there are less than $1000 a year.  North Dakota has the lowest cost of electricity in the country.  I’m ready to slow down, take it easy, but keep busy.

The only thing we need to do is find a house.  There are several for sale right now, and so much less than what we would pay here.  I will miss Greendale so much, but it’s time to move on.  I’ll keep you updated on our progress
