75th Anniversary Legacy Tree Planting in Greendale Saturday

This Saturday May11th, 2013 there will be a '75th Anniversary Legacy Tree' planting in Greendale's Dale Creek Park at 9:00AM.

You are invited to a special ‘Tree’ event!

This Saturday, May 11th at 9AM there will be a tree planting in Dale Creek Park just east of the bridge by Ferch’s. This is not just any tree. It is a ‘75th Anniversary Legacy Tree’ to commemorate the 75th Anniversary Alumni Reunion Village that will be set up in the park on Friday August 9th and Saturday August 10th during Village Days.

Bill Kewan, the Team Leader of Alumni Reunion Village, and Robbie McFaul, the Director of Public Works, have selected an American Elm as the tree to be planted. Spring is the ideal time for planting a tree, so that is the reason for scheduling it for this Saturday. Everyone should be in the Village Center anyway for the ‘Spring Into Greendale’ event. A marker will be placed later this summer identifying the tree and explaining its significance. With luck this tree will stand for hundreds of years.

So grab a coffee at the coffee shop and stop by the park at 9AM this Saturday May 11th. Throw some dirt on the planting of the ‘75th Anniversary Legacy Tree’. It will be fun and fast event. Hopefully there will not be a lot of speechifying……..

Thank you Bill and Robbie for thinking of and making the special idea a reality.
