Walking, Talking History at the Greendale Visitor Center

Got questions on the village? Greendale Visitor Center has got the answers and then some.

There's really no excuse not to get to know your community, especially if there are ready, willing and able resources to inform you.

Case in point: a ten minute visit to the Greendale Visitor Center, which is in the heart of the historic business district will give you a PhD in Greendale, just by asking Kristi Rae Sanders, Communications and Fundraising Coordinator or CJ the Culinary Specialist.

Both ladies were a wealth of information on the history of the Village, which was only one of three "Green Belt" communities developed from the "New Deal" programs of the Roosevelt era. The idea was to create affordable housing, and Greendale remains the only surviving example of such a set up. Green Belt, MD and Green Hills, OH no longer resemble the original idea, whereas the 592 homes built under the program still exist in Greendale.
