Southridge Mall Owner Earns Two Industry Awards

Simon Property Group was Lauded as Retail Leader by The Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark.

Simon Property Group, owners of Southrdige Mall, was honored with a pair of awards recognizing its commitment to sustainability issues.

For the second consecutive year, Simon has been recognized by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) with inclusion in its select Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI). SPG was the only real estate company to be awarded the CDLI distinction.

This index highlights those companies within the S&P 500 Index which have displayed a strong approach to information disclosure regarding climate change. Companies are scored on their climate change disclosure and high scores indicate good internal data management and understanding of climate change related issues affecting the company. The CDP represents 655 institutional investors with $78 trillion in assets.

“Our goal is to be as transparent as possible so it’s especially gratifying to be recognized once again for good information disclosure regarding climate change,” said George Caraghiaur, Senior Vice President of Energy & Procurement at Simon Property Group, in a statement.

Paul Simpson, Chief Executive Officer of CDP, said, companies that make the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index have demonstrate strong internal data management practices for the measurement of greenhouse gas emissions and energy use which is vital to realizing greater efficiencies, protecting the business from risk and capitalizing on opportunities.

Simon was also named a regional sector leader in retail by The Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) in its recently released 2012 Report. GRESB is an industry-led organization committed to rigorous and independent evaluation of the sustainability performance of real estate portfolios; its report is based on sustainability data gathered from approximately 450 property companies and funds worldwide, providing aggregate information for 36,000 properties, representing $1.3 billion in global assets under management.

We can look up to see who signed a recall of their elected official because of grievances, but weRead More cannot look up who donated large wads of ca$h to the same official's campaign...Thank you GOP for turning that window of open accountability into a one-way mirror with the GOP looking out and everyone else stuck looking inward, wandering why we don't get the same vantage point. A bit hypocritical don't you think? And BTW, your GOP budget just ticked off every principal, superintendent and public school family in the state of WI today. Good luck on that second term of negative growth (-0.74).

I think Scott Walker's record speaks for itself in terms of state job growth and misplacedRead More priorities. "Blue fisters" didn't create Scott Walker, he's been a creature of ALEC since the early 1990s. Let's see if he decides to do a Bachmann in 2014. A lot of people who didn't vote in the recall election because they didn't understand/agree may not have voted for him in 2010. Anyone who has a 20-something college grad who can't find a job, male spouse, family member or friend in their 50s who can't find a job, was cut from needed health care benefits, etc., is bound to be looking for better leadership.
