Milwaukee County Buses May No Longer Be Welcome Soon at Southridge Mall

Noise and other concerns have mall management considering a change in bus policy.

If you ride a Milwaukee County Bus to Southridge Mall in Greendale, you may have to walk a little farther from the bus stop starting next month. That's because management at the mall may prohibit Milwaukee County Bus Service from operating on mall property beginning in February.

According to a January 12 article in The Business Journal, mall management met with county officials and representatives from the Village of Greendale to discuss the situation.

The owner of the mall, Simon Property Group, Inc., has raised concerns over noise and the frequency of bus service at the mall.

The mall is currently served by four bus routes and a freeway flyer route. There is no firm date yet on when the buses would have to begin operating off-property drop-off and pick-ups.

The situation is expected to come before the county transportation, public works and transit committee on Wednesday.

Instead of making the use of mass transit more difficult, we should be finding ways to promote its use! Reduce the carbon footprint, get more cars off the road, etc. This is really backward.

Clearly, the Simon Property Group Inc. has no idea how many people depend on the bus to get to Southridge and how many customers they will lose when they end the bus service to the mall. There are many people who do not drive for a variety of reasons and who depend on the bus for transportation. If all those people stop shopping at Southridge then it will go the way of Northridge and so many other malls. I don't understand their thinking at all. I guess business is so good that they don't feel they have to worry about losing customers. I wonder how the store owners feel about this?

HUH. Who is kidding who. Simon Property is trying to be "politically correct" in an underhanded way to eliminate a portion of the population who cause problems at Southridge. But by taking this protocol they are making in difficult, if not impossible, for those people who rely on public transportation to go to Southridge. Simon Property: man up and get security to keep the undesirables out of Southridge. Don't rely on Village President John (did I take down a Walker sign today) Hermes to be your toady to get mass transportation out of Southridge. If I were a Southridge store I would raise hell over this as it reduces the population that can come to my store.

Southridge Mall does not have the parental escort policy,Souuthridge Mall need's to have it,Because a lot of white and hispanic teenagers hang out there and cause problems and cause trouble,That's why I dont go to Southridge Mall,Southridge Mall Public Safety and Mall Security is racist against black people,That's why you don't see black people go out there and hang out there because Southridge Mall is racist.Mayfair Mall and Bayshore Town Center have the parental escort policy but they're not racist against Black People.

This is true,This is a fact,Not a conspiracy,Not an opinion,The white people who work at Southridge Mall are prejudice and racist against Black People,Greendale Police are racist against Black People when they come to Southridge Mall and take sides with Southridge Mall Security/Public Safety. That's why Black People don't go out there,Because White co-workers and White shoppers are racist against Black People at Southridge Mall,White People lie on Black People,Set them up to get in trouble to get a citation/ticket and to get Black People banned and kicked out by Southridge Mall Security/Public Safety and Greendale Police. The best malls to go to is Mayfair,Brookfield,Bayshore, and Grand Avenue because they are not racist like Southridge Mall is,Southridge Mall needs to close down like Northridge Mall did in 2001-2002.

I believe the bottom line is accountability and responsibility. After the racist hate riots of last summer in Milwaukee, in which nobody was charged, I can understand the Mall's concern(s). Enough is enough.

Keep the ghetto people out because they cause all the trouble.

Why is the City of Greendale racist against Black People?City of Greendale is full of White trash like Whitefish Bay.White People and White teenage kids go to Southridge Mall to steal merchandise without paying for it.
abc def January 14, 2012 at 04:42 PM
Oh so very true. Can't wait to see what the City does with this.
abc def January 14, 2012 at 04:46 PM
Not sure when you were last at SouthRidge....there are black people out there. Young, old and everything in between.
Dennis Mentel January 14, 2012 at 08:43 PM
So you're telling me that black teenagers don't cause problems, that's all anyone hears about is that black mobs of teenagers constantly start riots at Mayfair Mall, remember it was those teenagers that caused Mayfair Mall to place the parentel enforce policy. The city of Greendale is not racist and niether is Southridge Mall the only reason you say that is because you are a racist.
Rennard Cotton January 14, 2012 at 11:45 PM
Dennis Mentel that's where you're wrong,I'm not a racist,I read GreendaleNOW on www.jsonline.com and I read the Greendale Police Reports,I read about White People shoplifting, stealing, credit card fraud and check fraud from Southridge Mall department stores like Kohl's,Boston Store, and JcPenney, and they get caught by Mall Security and arrested by Greendale Police.Dennis Mentel you're racist,Do you see Black People commit crimes in Greendale and Southridge Mall?I think not and I don't think so.The only people who commit crimes from Shoplifting,Using peoples credit cards and checks to commit fraud,Disorderly Conduct,Public Urination,Fighting in the mall parking lot is the Whites and the Hispanics.Dennis put that in your pipe and smoke it.

If Simon doesn't back off of their attempt to ban buses, the county or the state should use its power of eminent domain and condemn the driveways and all spaces needed for buses to pick up, discharge and wait for passengers. This is another attempt by the American Legislative Exchange Council supported by the Koch brothers in their war against the middle class. They are trying to revive the Gilded era, when government was ruled by corporate greed.

The "old South Side" never dies, it just move further South.
Adi January 20, 2012 at 02:11 AM
Tru that robert And I would like to say that no, when I worked at southridge, I was not racists towards anyone. So you all should stop stereotyping...
