Panda Express Application Tabled

Village staff will work with Panda Express to make some revisions to the plan. The Planning Commission tabled the restaurant's permit request to give more time for the revisions.

The Greendale Planning Commission on Wednesday tabled a special-use building permit for a proposed Panda Express.

As reported earlier by Patch, the Greendale Board of Trustees  that Leath Furniture previously occupied from the main   site. That site is where Panda Express would like to build.

After reviewing the application and hearing recommendations from commission consultant Pat Meehan the commission decided to table it and send it back to village staff for further review.

Village staff will work with Panda Express on the plans and make revisions in areas, such as sidewalk extensions, landscape plans, parking spaces sizes and signage. 

The application will come back to the Planning Commission.

Longhorn Steakhouse, another restaurant, is rumored to be coming alongside Panda Express.

The Leath building, which has been vacant for several years, is located on the northwest corner of the mall property. Before Leath Furniture was in the building, Sears Home Life occupied it. Leath Furniture closed all its Milwaukee-area locations four years ago. 

This is part of the redevelopment of the 76th Street corridor:

  • The ongoing $52 million renovation of will continue through Summer.
  •  is continuing its $8.5 million renovation. 
  • Wal-Mart has started its construction process.
