New Southridge Anchor Tenant Will Be Announced On Monday

The anchor might be Macy's. The announcement will be at Southridge Mall at a 10 a.m. press conference.

The moment that many have been waiting for is nearing —the announcement of a new anchor store at Southridge Mall.

The Village of Greendale approved a $16 million TIF district in December to help finance the $52 million dollar redevelopment of the mall. Since November it has been rumored that Macy's might be the new anchor tenant that will occupy the old Younkers space.

According to a press release from Simon Property Group, the owners of the Mall, "Southridge Mall will unveil all of the details surrounding a major renovation that will create a new look and enhance the overall ambience of the shopping center.  A new anchor tenant will also be announced and representatives will be present."

Present at the conference will be Scott Richardson the Regional Vice President of Development for Simon Property Group, Patrick Basche the General Manager of Southridge Mall, John Hermes the President of Village of Greendale, and representatives from new anchor tenant.

Currently at the space lies World Market. It is not known what will happen but it seems mostly likely that they would have to relocate.

The press conference will be on Monday at 10 a.m. at Southridge Mall.

This comes in a time where other development is taking place in the 76th Street corridor.
