World War II Encampment This Weekend at Trimborn Farm

The weekend event includes a USO-style dance on Saturday and a women's baseball game featuring period-appropriate equipment Sunday.

Step back in time as the Milwaukee County Historical Society honors the service and sacrifice of Wisconsin’s World War II veterans with a World War II Encampment at Trimborn Farm in Greendale.

On Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, June 16, from noon to 4 p.m., visitors will see re-enactors representing American forces on the European and Pacific fronts, a German Panzer Division, and much more.

Learn about the equipment carried into battle, see actual military vehicles from the era, and discover remarkable stories about the men and women that served during the war. The USO will also be on the grounds, recreating a World War II-era canteen and interpreting an important part of their stateside operations that helped boost the troops’ morale before heading overseas.

On Saturday evening, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., join the re-enactors and the Greendale Swing Band for a USO-style dance. This dance is free and open to the general public, and 1940s dress is encouraged.

At noon Sunday, the World War II Girls Living History Baseball League will play a nine-inning game on the grounds. Using period-appropriate equipment and uniforms, the Belles/Blue Sox will battle the Comets.
