The day kicks off at 9 a.m. with a presentation by Mark F. Moran, the author of more than 25 books on antiques and collectibles and a guest expert on the PBS series Antiques Roadshow.

His presentation will explain how art becomes valuable, how it retains its value, and what producers of art can do to ensure longevity in the works they create. He will discuss how primitive and outsider art is dealt with in the collector’s market and review issues of preservation, conservation and restoration.

At 10:15 a.m., judge Chad Lindemann of Wisconsin Lutheran College will lead a discussion/critique on one piece by each participant emphasizing its strengths and areas needing improvement.

After a break for lunch, the discussion and critiques continue until Lindemann and Greendale library director Gary Warren Niebuhr announce the honorable mentions and state exhibit winners.

The day’s events are free for any artist who entered works of art in the exhibition or $5 for the general public.
