Greendale Village Days Parade Had Something for Everyone

More than 50 units participated in annual parade.

If you walked through Greendale Saturday you might have noticed the telltale signs that a parade was coming — chairs marking off what somebody considered to be the perfect viewing spot.
By Sunday morning, an hour before the Greendale Village Days Parade was scheduled to start, people lined the parade route, which winded its way along Northway to Broad and through the downtown business district.
While rain threatened most of Saturday, the weather Sunday morning couldn’t have been more perfect. Hundreds turned out for the parade, which is a feature of the annual Greendale Village Days. The parade set off promptly at 11 a.m. and the final units arrived at Jaycee Park, where the parade ended, shortly after 12:30 p.m.
The parade had everything you might expect among the more than 50 units that participated — music, Boy Scouts, baton twirlers, Shriners in their little cars. What it lacked in floats, the parade more than made up for with friendly dogs and politicians with candy. The parade had lots of both.
