Tom Reifenberg, Director of the Greendale Marching Band, owes much of the band’s success to the immense community support.

“Thank you to the parents, community, and the school district for supporting arts,” Reifenberg said. “It’s a big team effort of the community.”

When asked how the band got to this high level of continued success Reifenberg said, “The expectations of excellence has been set by all the kids in the classes before and every year the kids want to be as good or better than the year before. The kids kind of police themselves that they want to be as good as they want to be.”

The marching band will move on to compete in he Bands of America Grand National Championships from November 8-10. Ninety bands from all over the country will perform.

“The trophies and awards are nice, but the feeling knowing that you did your absolute best that’s what’s really cool about it,” Reifenberg said.
