Greendale 75th Anniversary Art Contest Underway

Looking for artists to design the winning 'official Artwork of the 75th Celebration.'

The kicked-off its art contest to find a design that will officially be the artwork of the upcoming 2013 celebration.

The theme of the contest is "The Spirit of 75: the history of Greendale and the unique qualities of life in the village."

The Greendale Public Library is hosting the contest and all entries will be displayed at the library from June until August 2012. Judging will be conducted by area art professionals.

The winner will receive a $500 prize, with the artwork becoming the property of the Village of Greendale. The winner will sign 300 copies of the winning artwork, which will then be sold to raiise money for the 75th Anniversary Celebration. The first ten copies will be auctioned off at the 2012 Village Days event, while the remaining copies will be sold for $25 each.

Second place prize is $200 and third place receives $100. Winners will be announced at a reception on June 23, 2012.

Organizers say the contest is similar to one held in 1988 during the village's 50th anniversary event.
