Milwaukee, WI--A new Milwaukee Public Television series, AROUND THE CORNER WITH JOHN MCGIVERN, will preview an episode about Greendale Tuesday, March 27, at 5:30 and 7 p.m. at the Greendale Visitor Center. Both previews are free and open to the public.
The series looks at life in 13 southeastern Wisconsin communities, exploring what it is like to live, work and play in each area. The Greendale episode premieres Thursday, April 5, on MPTV HD 10.1 at 7:30 p.m. and repeats Friday, April 6, on MPTV HD 36.1 at 8 p.m.
McGivern, one of Milwaukee’s most popular comic actors, goes behind-the-scenes to find the unique aspects of each community. The 30-minute episodes feature area residents, businesses and favorite pastimes as well as some background information from historian John Gurda.

Greendale’s status as a planned “Greenbelt” community is only one of its many interesting aspects. McGivern goes to Taste of Home at Reader’s Digest, a barbershop, the local bakery, a malt shop, and the Shoppe Around the Corner. He also explores a lime farm, discovers the city’s beautiful flower beds, and enjoys its barbershop quartets.
McGivern and Gurda will be on hand for questions and comments after the previews. Seating will be on a first-come basis. Other communities featured in the series are Bay View, Riverwest, Cedarburg, Sheboygan, King Drive, Brady Street, Burlington, Racine, Third Ward, Lincoln Village, Wauwatosa, and East Town.
