75th Anniversary Celebration, Village Days Less Than a Month Away

Greendale’s Village Days, and its five-day 75th anniversary extravaganza, is now less than a month away.

The celebration, which has been years in the making, is Aug. 7-11 with plenty to do for Greendale residents past and present, young and old.

And to help you plan for the festive and historic, here’s a day-by-day schedule of highlights.

Wednesday, Aug. 7

  • Hot Air Balloon Rides at Brinkman Field from 6-8 p.m.
  • Retro ‘40s on Broad Street from 5-9 p.m., featuring vintage cars, period costumes, “appearances” from Franklin D. and Eleanor Roosevelt and a swing band
  • Vintage Car Show from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Registration is $10 and includes brat, beer, t-shirt and a chance to win $200 cash prize for best in show.

Thursday, Aug. 8

  • Fifth Quarter Performance by members of the Badger Band at Gavinski Field at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the Greendale Public Library, by mail or online.
  • Laser Light Show on Broad Street at 9:30 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 9/Saturday, Aug. 10

  • Alumni Reunion Village, where Greendale and Martin Luther High School alumni will meet under a large tent in Dale Creek Park east of the shops on Broad Street to reminisce and party with old friends from all graduation classes between 1938-2013. Hours are 4-8 p.m. Friday and noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. The first 500 alumni to pre-register online receive a gift bag.

Sunday, Aug. 11

  • 75th Anniversary Village Days parade, featuring marching bands, floats, clowns, vintage cars, horses, a special parade marshal and more. The parade starts at noon.
  • Fireworks shortly after dusk
