The Weekend is Coming! After Hours Zoo and Sport Cars

Here are five local weekend events for just you, or for you and the family.

It seems like a quiet weekend in Greendale but there is plenty to do around the area with the family.

1. 

Where/When: American Legion Post 416, 6351 W. Grange Ave., Greendale/6-11 p.m. Saturday

Why Go: Celebrate Whitnall School District's 50th anniversary with a night of fun, food, auctions and raffles, live entertainment and dancing. Tickets are still available, according to the Greenfield district's website Quin Brunette at 414-550-5633 or Lauren Hyps at 414-758-3054.

Where/When: Milwaukee County Zoo, 10001 W. Bluemound Rd./5-9 p.m. Friday

Why Go: This after-hours family party is sure to please everyone in your group.  Activities include learning about animal tracking, animal-themed crafts at hands-on activity stations and dancing to the music of a kid-friendly DJ. Pizza and popcorn snacks and build-your-own ice cream treats also will add to the fun.  

Pricing: $75 family of four; $25 individuals ages 13 and older; $15 children 12 and under

3. 

Where/When: /2 p.m. Sunday

Why Go: Melodies of Slovenia is a program of folk songs and instrumental music presented by Soprano singer Dolores Ivanchich and accordionist Tony Gorenc. This year, Slovenia is celebrating 20 years of independence and communities around the country are sponsoring programs featuring Slovenian culture and general information about the country.

Where/When: Subaru City, 4640 S. 27th St./11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday

Why Go: Find out how you can get close to the racing action at tracks like Road America or The Milwaukee Mile. See many different types of SCCA road racing and Autocross cars and find out how you can drive the tracks in your own car.

Pricing: free 

5.

Where: Oak Creek Community Center, 8580 S. Howell Ave./4-8 p.m. Friday

Why Go: Enjoy cod and country crisp chicken, with your choice of fries, potato pancakes or German potato salad. Also included in the meal are cole slaw, rye bread, coffee and milk.

Pricing: Between $8.25 - $8.50, and kid's menu options are available for younger diners.

6.) Bingo

Where/When: American Legion Post 416, 6351 W. Grange Ave. /6-9:30 p.m. Sunday

Why Go:  $1300 in regular prizes plus a chance to win the progressive amount (minimum $100) in a seperate game. Food and beverages available for a nominal fee plus Pull Tabs and chance at our 50/50 money raffle.
