Program Funding for Trimborn Farms Might be Tighter This Year

The Milwaukee County Park will be spending over anywhere from $15,000 to $20,000 on roof repairs.

Threshing Barn at Trimborn Farms is the place to hosts a variety ofΒ  events, hence the Milwaukee County Historical Society is spending $15,000 to $20,000 to replace the failing cedar shake shingles on the barn.

Historic sites manager Melissa Wraalstad said, "Cedar shakes need to be replaced every 20-30 years, and this is a crucial and necessary step in the long-term preservation of the Threshing Barn, a primary programming space for Trimborn Farm."

To keep the farm historical the shingle used to replce the failing ones will match the existing ones in species, finish characteristics, and size.

Wraalstad said that since the money is being budgeted for the repairs funds will be tighter for programming for this year.

"I can cover the basics for the project because it is so crucial that we get this done that we budgeted it this year, and we would not have started it unless we could pay for it," Wraalstad said

Any donations towards the roof would be greatly appreciated and would allow us to continue to offer new programming. As a non-profit, donations may be tax-deductible."
