Local Ski Hill Set to Open January 2

Crystal Ridge Ski Area in Franklin to open for first time this season.

As surely as the New Year arrived, so did the snow.

Snow flurries fluttered throughout the area, intensifying the pent-up anguish of local skiiers and snowboarders who have been frustrated by the lack of snow which has kept the local ski hill, Crystal Ridge in Franklin, closed.

According to the ski area's 'snow hotline', however, the hill will open for the first time this season at 10 am on Monday, January 2.

There will be limited runs open along with one chairlift in operation. According to the Crystal Ridge website the open runs include 'Bulldozer', 'PJ's Alley', and 'Ease on Down.' It also states the runs are narrow and not snow-covered edge-to-edge.

The ski hill, which opened in 1987, has a total of eight runs ranging from beginner to expert.
