Greendale Tall Corn Contest!

Wisconsin residents have until Oct. 1 to grow the largest corn stalk. Plant it...and stand back!

The Greendale Visitor Center is selling giant corn seeds that produce large corn stalk to Wisconsin residents so that they may compete in the Greendale Tall Contest.

The corn seeds can make a stalk grow as high as 18 feet tall. The $1 packet can produce anywhere from four to six corn stalks.

Contestants will measure the stalk on October 1 and take a picture of it to the Reiman Visitor's Center by October 8.

Roy Reiman, the man behind the a publishing empire that produced Taste of Home and Country Living magazines, is the person behind the idea of this out-ordinary contest, according to Greendale resident and TMJ4 anchor Vince Vintrano.
A similar contest is ran in Iowa by a Reiman magazine, Our Iowa. It also just so happens that Mr. Reiman is also from Iowa.

Greendale Background on Tall Plants:

Apparently someone, rumored to be Mr. Reiman, planted some “super hybrid corn seed” in Jim Batley's barbershop large flower bed.

The flower or weed kept growing and growing until it reached 14 feet. People were astounded and even took pictures next to it.
