A Letter From a Public Celebrations Chairperson

Includes updates on fourth of July celebration in the Village.

The Greendale Public Celebrations Committee is working hard on putting all the finishing touches on this year’s Fourth of July Parade.

There are a few changes this year with our event to include two new parade operations managers, Terry and Sheryl Patzke.  The Patzke’s have created an outstanding line up of entertainment.  This year’s parade is packed with performers to satisfy all ages and interests.  We hope you sit back, relax and enjoy the parade. We promise you will not be disappointed in the variety of entertainment! Visit the Village of Greendale website: www.greendale.org for the complete event schedule and changes.

The Fourth of July parade and Greendale Village Days (Aug. 12,13,14) are  the two largest events that that Public Celebrations Committee provides volunteers for.  The PCC meets throughout the year, usually the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Village Hall.  The PCC committee Chaired by Donna Ouellette and Carolann Matzek and its membership organized events such as the Fourth of July Parade to include all of the performers in the parade, distribution of the ice cream after our Children’s Parade and also the decorations for the officials viewing stand. The PCC could not provide Greendale such an impressive event without the dedication, energy and time commitment from its’ membership.  Some members have remained on the PCC roster for more than 20 years. Our thanks to this committee and its’ dedicated Greendale members.  If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact the Village Hall

The PCC also is in charge of choosing the Parade Marshall, an honorary nomination for each parade. This year we have two parade Marshalls, Ed Marus a WWII Vet who served in the Coast Guard and Don Luettgen, who served in the Army in the Korean War.  We are honored that these two individuals accepted our nomination for parade Marshalls of this year’s Fourth of July parade and we are grateful for their service to our country, please show your gratitude to these honored veterans as they  pass you in the parade.

Hope we have time to get this in, any questions, please let me know.
Thank you, Carolann Matzek Public Celebrations Chairperson.
