Packers' Writer McGinn to Appear in Greendale
BOB MCGINN, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s “beat writer” covering the Green Bay Packers, will appear at the Greendale Visitor Center from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6th,to sign his book, “The Ultimate Super Bowl Book”.
McGinn has covered more than 27 Super Bowls as a sportswriter for the GreenBay Press-Gazette and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He is a five-time Wisconsin Statesportswriter of the year.
McGinn achieved the ultimate recognition for NFL writers in 2011 when he won theMcCann Award for distinguished coverage of pro football. That made him a member of thewriters’ wing of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Football coaches from the area have been invited to attend, and urged to bring membersof their teams and friends as well.
Those on hand will be able to ask McGinn about his experiences in covering thePackers…about his relationship with the players and coaches (he can’t become their “friends” inorder to remain objective in his reports)…what he and the other writers go through to deliver an 8-page section to your mailbox at 6:00 a.m. when a night game doesn’t end till 10:30, etc.
His book on Super Bowls, the second edition, goes beyond the hype and hoopla offootball’s main event to explore every NFL championship game played since January 1967. Withstories, stats and quotes from the men who were there, McGinn dissects how each team—boththe winners and the losers—was built to championship-caliber status.
McGinn is a native of Escanaba, Michigan and a graduate of the University of Michigan. He lives in Green Bay.
Bring your questions and your curiosity to the Greendale Visitor Center on Dec. 6th.You’ll leave with a much better appreciation for what it takes to “cover the Packers”.
