The five concept drawings developed by Graef Engineering will again be on display for review at the April 18 open house at the Greendale Safety Center.

The open house will have the same concept drawings shown at the February 22 open house. It will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on April 18.

Copies of the concepts are on display at the Greendale Public Library, Village Hall and on the Village’s web site www.greendale.org.

According to a press release from the Village, the five concepts have been developed to enhance and/or stabilize the tax base, improve the vitality of the Downtown area, attract customers, and build the Village’s reputation and value. The open house will allow residents to review concept drawings and provide input to Village representatives.

My family moved to Greendale in 1959. At that time, the "downtown" area boasted a grocery store, drug store, deli, hardware store, etcetera. It was truly a community. Then it was turned into an upscale strip mall. The last time the Village was "remodeled", all the charm was leeched away. Now this? Please, leave it alone!

"Last time the village was remodeled, atl the charm was leeched away." Really? Are you referring to the 'charming' state of our village in the 1990's, before Roy Reiman came in and remodeled (rescued) it? From what I recall, there wasn't much charm left in the village prior to the remodel. http://greendale.patch.com/articles/the-evolution-of-greendales-original-businesses I trust our village officials are thoroughly researching what will be best for the future of the downtown area. Why would they want to do anything less? It wouldn't be much of a legacy for them, not to mention they are residents here too. We all want what is best for the village. Sure, change is scary - but it can be a GOOD thing if we all work together!

I live near the Safety Center and the streets are filled with cars of people going to the open house. Expect it to be a full house!
