The Greendale Historical Society’s membership meeting will be a “meet ‘n greet” Summer Social on Thursday, July 26th at 6:30 p.m. at the historic Grounds Building and Hose Tower in Greendale. Light food and beverages will be served at the picnic-style event which is free and open to the public.
The Society’s noted historic preservation architect, Jim Read, will talk about plans for the adaptive reuse of the 1939 iconic building and tower. It will be readapted into a community gathering place and cultural center with public restrooms.
The Society is pleased to welcome Chris Adams from Bartolotta’s who will talk about the new restaurant, Joey Gerard’s, which will open soon in the historic Village Inn building. Free dinners for the new restaurant will be given away.
Special update: the impending designation of the Village of Greendale as a National Historic Landmark.
The Grounds Building and Hose Tower is located in the southwest corner of the Parking Street lot just west of the Greendale Public Library. We need the rain but not on the 26th! The meeting will be held in the lower level community room of the library in case of rain.
Donations for the Hose Tower project are accepted. For more information call the Greendale Historical Society office at 414-423-7064. Visit us at:
