I have two jobs and two sets of bosses: At my regular job, my bosses treat me fairly, treat me with respect and are great, down-to-earth guys. On election day they tell me to take as much time as I need to go vote, but do not try and intimidate me in any way. These guys truly have my utmost respect.
At my other job, the situation is quite the opposite. I walked into work this weekend to find that our boss had printed a packet for each full-time, regular employee (I was not included) complete with their home address, the address of their polling station, each candidate on the ballot in their district, and EVERY REPUBLICAN highlighted and check-off. Where there were only Democrats on the ballot he had written, "No vote needed.'
To be fair, my boss did not say or write to vote Republican or else, but none-the-less, I feel this is intimidation and political bullying in the work place, so did quite a few of his other employees.
Some employees are sending emails to their employees warning them that if Obama wins, the company may have to cut jobs. Some employees are offering to reimburse employees if they go see the new anti-Obama "documentary".
Maybe if I listen to 620 WTMJ while at work, I can ask for another dollar per hour. Maybe if I tune into Fox News at night, I can clock in for some overtime pay. Maybe if I attend a Paul Ryan rally in Waukesha I can get reimbursed for mileage. Maybe if I am a registered Democrat and don't vote Tuesday, I can get an extra large Christmas bonus this year.
Maybe if my boss treated his employees with respect and dignity and kept his nose out of their politics he wouldn't be seen as "The big bad wolf" at work. I hope your boss isn't trying to bully you into voting a certain way.
Thanks to the Supreme Court "Citizens United" case, this crap is now totally legal. You know, the more money, power and influence you have, the louder your voice is allowed to be and the more rights you are allowed to have. I can't imagine what would happen if I had come to work and handed out to each employee a packet of how I thought they should vote. My guess is I would now have my weekends free and one less job to collect a W2 from next year.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On a separate note, I now understand that people in the city of Milwaukee are receiving phone calls "allowing" them to vote by phone. To combat this fraudulent B.S., volunteer groups are now printing fliers and pasting them in the inner city at bus stops and corners that read,
No ballot,
No vote!
You cannot vote by
phone or internet in
Wisconsin. If you did not
visit a polling place or
mail an absentee ballot,
you did NOT vote.
Questions? Call the City of Milwaukee
Election Commission (414) 286-3491
Will the right-wingers stop at nothing to intimidate and cheat? This makes me sick to my stomach.

I think there's a law on the books about pressuring employees. Sometime back I was involved with an organization that was trying to pressure employee votes. I recommended they discontinue the practice as it was having the opposite effect--employees were paying lip service and voting as they pleased or for the other party out of spite. I won't share which party was being pushed on employees--it shouldn't happen at all. Strife does not improve productivity.

Apparently you do not understand that this is not news, nor is it a column. Jason is also NOT a journalist or writer. This is just a blog.
If you had read any of his prior blogs you may understand he never writes about facts. In fact his last blog was proven to be a totally fictional piece. It was after several people pointed out this fact that he responded with language that would make a drunken sailor blush. The Patch editors actually removed his foul comments. Finally, this "blog" is not published work.
Hopefully with time you will come to understand that.

Jason, where was your outrage when WEAC, SEIU and countless other unions hand-picked the likes of Falk, Klop and Baldwin, making certain there was only one way for their membership to vote the union way?
And why shouldn't an employer candidly point out the real-world consequences of voting for more socialism? As business invarably declines, employee losses are a certainty.
As for asking for another dollar per hour, why don't you find a way to add value to whatever it is you are doing, instead of conning yourself into thinking business rewards political activism? It doesn't but most businessmen understand the difference between takers and makers. Too bad for you.

If you vote for Obama ...
Beware - there may be blood on your hands!
In times past, God's people had no choice in regards to the laws that governed them. Ruled by kings (or sometimes judges or consuls), the Israelites had no choice other than to obey laws as they were decreed---or to rebel (risking their life doing so).
Today we have different - but just as weighty - decisions! We hold in our hands the lives of millions of innocent children. As voters we are responsible for the laws that govern this land and for the elected officials we put into office.
God's Word has made His opinions very clear on some issues. God has said that He is the Author of life---He is" the giver and the taker of life...."
"For a Christian not to vote or not to vote upholding justice (God's laws) is therefore an act of rebellion against God. Voting for a politician or a political party that advocates ending a life that God has begun means that YOU have made abortion the law of the land and have chosen a government in direct opposition to God.
The blood of each and every one of these innocent children is on the hands of those who vote(d) for abortion and abortion advocates! Forty plus million helpless little children have been murdered because many have chosen to do nothing.
May God have mercy on us! Let's ask for His forgiveness and repent ...
That is - to do what is right from here on out - If your a Catholic a Protestant a Mormon or a Jew - Save the Life of the Unborn!

@Gunnar Larson...I couldn't disagree with you more. Your selective interpretation of biblical literature is misleading and potentially damaging. Whenever you mix religion and politics it results in something that doesn't do justice to either. We Jews have various interpretations and traditionally do not count human zygotes and fetuses as classified as being fully human. So in the future when appealing to religion, please leaves us Jews out. We view a number of issues much differently from general Christian theocracy and dogma.

2) The reality of the situation is that if Obama is elected, some companies will have to lay off people. That will affect a lot of us.

I agree that unions should not TELL people how to vote either. The differences between a union and an employer "suggesting" how to vote are: The employer owns the business and can fire you - Union members are fellow employees who cannot fire another fellow employee.
And when I write satire, I acknowledge it within the title or the piece itself. I have not done so here because it is 100% true. My employer pulled this same bullying technique in 2008, but as he handed out his pre-printed cheat sheets back then he said, "The world as we know it is going to end tomorrow and a black man will become President if we don't vote."
If you are claiming that you don't believe an employer would do this, than you agree that an employer SHOULDN'T do this, but this boss is a right wing as you get. And I am no constitutional lawyer, but from what I understand, this type of "political free speech" in the workplace is now legal since that crappy Supreme Court "Citizens United" decision. - But just in case, I will take your advice and call the proper offices today to make a formal complaint. And since you are so interested, I will keep you updated...

Private unions used their muscle to get the membership to protest ACT 10. Even retirees were called on by their local, asking if they could count on them to vote for the right guy. Unions have a brotherhood code, ratting out a fellow brother in the union is punishable. Does anyone remember the guy who worked at the paper mill in Northern WI. They found him in a pulp silo with a weight around his neck! This was all over a stolen extension cord. Voter intimidation is alive and well in the unions and workplace. Compared to business owners I would guess it is a 10-1 ratio.

Your an idiot, the employer looks out for his self interest and that equates to any give back the employee gets. If you don't like it there, leave. You work as a privilidge. if you want more, get it on your own. Unions are just as thuggish and control the work production and cause havoc in making the product and the profit. If I own a business, I will express my view and help with the right way of voting.

A side note on my other employers: Best people I have ever worked for in my life. I'm not exactly sure of their politics, but these guys have a great sense of humor and they even remind me to go vote while I'm out on the job, but NEVER, NEVER say who they think I should vote for. - Well, that's not true. . . one of them did just say yesterday, "Hey, who are you going to vote for, Giant Douche or Turd Sandwich?" ~ Which is a reference to a hilarious South Park episode.
These guys are in the Employer Hall Of Fame just for having a super sense of humor!

My name is Jason and I am the world's biggest whiner. My wife bullies me, my boss bullies me, and the patch bullies me. Oh poor me. What ever can I do? Maybe I should stop posting all this liberal crap and educate myself?
Nah, I'll keep whining and lying like a weak little girl...

Where were you guys who constantly try and bully me off of the Patch during the Jeff Stone/Kathy Vincent, Mary Lazich/Jim Ward debates? I was hoping some of you would have shone in person so you could find out just how "limp-wristed" I am in person. But none-the-less, no right-wingers bothered to step away from cyberbullying long enough to confront me in person.
When this election season is all over I suggest we all "meet" for a public round table debate. I will even reserve the meeting room at the Greendale Safety Center for our discussion. I truly hope some of you bullies show up, bet I won't hold my breath . . .

I'd just like us to get away from the whole "bullying" nonsense. Everything doesn't have an equivalency found in elementary school.
Seriously, buck up and deal with it. I've had bosses over the years that have done all sorts of crazy crap that makes this look just another day at the office - I'm sure most people have also. If he did this in 2008 and you were working for him at the time, you pretty much should have expected it again this time around and you've had 4 years to attempt to avoid having to deal with a second occurrence. I think you're just running out of legitimate stuff to take offense at. Face it, it had to happen sooner or later.

The sad thing about the GOP is what is it has become. This once great party has brought out the worst in people, and you guys prove that every day, hour after hour.
Hopefully this pending loss will change that, but it is doubtful, because the crazy right will only double down. After all, this is the crowd that believes that more guns results in less violence.
Best of luck to sane moderate Republicans finding a new home. Maybe we'll get a third party.

Well Jason, why don't you quit your job - and go into business for yourself. The self-employed route? That way you can be your own Boss - charge what you are really worth, make what you are really worth - and have the good life.
Then your only other Boss will be your favorite one - the Government.
That way you can pay unemployment taxes on yourself - but discover that self-employed people are unable to collect that unemployment that they pay. You can discover that you can set any hours you want - as long as you are available and ready 24 hours per day - 7 days a week, 365 days a year. That way you pay directly pay the FULL SS cost - and see what the cost truly is.
Here is a video that will help you with understanding your wonderful new partner in your business - the Government.

@$$andNonsense -
You don't see Hoffa encouraging his representatives to flee the state or country to prevent a quorum, staging a fraudulent sickout in our public schools, occupying the Capitol buildings, marching around the Capitols with signs depicting his political opponents as Adolf Hitler, launching frivolous recalls, filing a multitude of frivolous litigation, pouring beers over the heads of the member of the opposition political parties, etc, do you?
And yet, that's exactly what you and your ilk have been doing for the last two years when you didn't get you way in this state, remember?
BTW - The Wisconsin GOP reclaimed a definitive majority in all branches of the state government: Senate, Assembly, Governor's mansion, and Supreme Court! Thanks for wasting millions of our taxpayers dollars on your frivolous and meaningless recalls. Suck it!

Well Hoffa...It's time for you to be a man and start thinking like a patriot and support your President as he endeavors to get some things done in our country. What can you do to help him? There are enough terrorists out in the world who would look with glee at an America that goes over the fiscal cliff. Don't you be one of them. "We all hang together, or we hang separately".

Sorry, but Hoffa refuses to roll over and play dead. You and your fellow blue fisters didn't in 2010 when Walker and the GOP was rightfully elected to control our state government, so how can you now expect conservatives to just cave on their values and believes? COME ON Koven - get real!
BTW - The GOP retook majority control of the State Senate, by a 3 seat margin (new balance is 18-15), and maintained their control of the State Assembly. Not to mention that we still have the Governor's mansion and State Supreme Court!
Will you guys go all ape again over Walker's next budget - that's the next round of fun that we have to look forward to!
