First Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus screwed with the voting totals when she "forgot" to count the entire city of Brookfield (largest city in Waukesha) on election night last year, then magically found those votes (in open bags) two days later, giving David Prosser a win over Joanne Kloppenburg, thus screwing the state out of a balanced Supreme Court - Now Waukesha wants to send more of their crap our way, this time, literally in the form of CRAP.
The city of Waukesha needs (cleaner) water because their current source for water is tainted with potentially dangerous levels of radium. Oak Creek has authored a deal to provide Lake Michigan water to Waukesha in which Oak Creek hopes to provide lower costs of water to their residents in exchange for sharing services. Good for Oak Creek; bad for Greendale, Greenfield, Franklin, Hales Corners and West Allis. Why? Because Waukesha will have to return that waste-water to Oak Creek . . . and they plan on doing so by sending it through the waterways in the Root River Parkway - Yummy!
I don't know about you, but I think there has got to be a better way for Waukesha to send their turd water back to Oak Creek than through my back yard and where I jog, walk my dogs and ride my bike.
Either they need to stop expanding so fast or they need to build the infrastructure to carry the waste-water back to Oak Creek - in something else than a public waterway.
You may not want to hear this, but the Root River Parkway system was created by the Socialist Party of Milwaukee during the depression as a federal work relief project and is now on the list of Wisconsin State Register of Historic Places and is home to the famous and beautiful Boerner Botanical Gardens.
It may be a stretch, but I'm guessing that the Botanical Gardens, which are a hot spot for weddings, may lose some of its luster if the smell of "fresh" turds from Waukesha overtakes the smell of fresh flowers at the gardens.
Picture it now: a beautiful bride and all of her bridesmaids dressed to the hill, hair and makeup done, beautiful flowers in the background and close-pins on their noses as they pose for their wedding days photos - a day their sense of smell will never forget.
A group of concerned citizens connected with the Root River Parkway is fighting the oncoming onslaught of 11 million gallons of "treated" waste-water from Waukesha and the deal between Oak Creek and Waukesha is, as of right now, temporarily on hold to make sure Oak Creek profits enough from the deal, but I still suggest contacting your Milwaukee County Supervisor to tell them that this deal to send turds through our backyard here in Greendale really is crappy for the residents of this area who will receive no benefits, but will only be polluted upon by Waukesha.
If you live in Greendale your County Supervisor is Joe Sanfelippo: Phone: 414-278-4222. Sanfelippo is on the Parks Board for Milw. County . . . and in my humble opinion, couldn't care less about public parks or the people of his district unless you are offering to buy sod from his family farm or call one of his taxis to take you to the airport, so good luck and good night.
